From Artisanal Hot Chocolate Turned Into A Fancy Drink

By Anthony Long

Cold seasons like rainy and winter makes people to take in comfort in warmth. They grab a sip of hot soup and drinks. They savor the warmth it brings to their bodies while they watch the cold from outside their windows. They would most likely choose to drink artisanal hot chocolate in this weather.

In creating this household drink, it is easy and will require minimal effort. Just choose your favorite drinking chocolate, pour in hot water, and then mix. After that, it all depends upon your taste. If you want milk or marshmallows, then you can include them in the mix. You may also add in spices if it is something you like.

However, recent times have changed the way this drink has been made. Coffee shops and connoisseurs especially have seen to that. The basics are still the same but the ingredients and the technique. They have used more fancy and sophisticated stuff in it.

Their main ingredient, cocoa, may be bought from suppliers situated in countries known for producing it. They want authentic ingredients in their stocks which is both rich and flavorful. They do not find these in grocery stores and markets. They like to buy ones that has undergone lesser manufacturing process.

Selecting cocoas coming from various producers is quite a challenge if you do not know what to look for. The world leading producer is Cote dIvoire, a country in Africa. It supplies and delivers produce to big manufacturing companies. For small shops, a country like Ecuador is most likely their choice. It can create high quality cocoa which can compete with leading producers. The taste is unique from others which might exactly be what they look for.

Milk quality also is being thought carefully. Some adds whole fat and nonfat milk. Skim milk powder and pasteurized milk are also being offered in others. They also go as far as adding a certain percentage of this dairy produce. It is because some cocoas are much more savored and tasted if only a small amount of milk is poured into them.

Sweeteners are one thing that sweet toothed people likes. For those who are watching their calorie intake but crave sweetness in their drinks, there are sucralose based artificial sweeteners for you. Opting out of it can also be done for those who do not like sweets. Just tell the barista about that.

Coffee enhances the taste of chocolates. Most know this to be true. So, they add a bit of ground coffee like espresso in the drinks. Decaf is also an option by request. Another addition they put is liqueur. A teaspoon or even a drop of it can be a good flavor combination. You know it is there but you cannot really taste it. You might get surprised how good this mixture can be.

Recent changes have become a treat to customers. They get to taste new flavors and inventions offered in coffee shops. Some even do experiments at home so their families and friends can enjoy the drinks they made. Good feelings are shared between them as they get warm underneath the cold.
